조동사 must → had to
• You must complete the task today. → Katy told me that I had to complete the task today.
당신은 오늘 작업을 완료해야 합니다. → 케이티가 저에게 오늘 작업을 완료해야 한다고 말했습니다.
• We must deliver on time. → The manager said that we had to deliver on time.
우리는 시간에 맞춰 전달해야 합니다. → 매니저가 우리가 시간에 맞춰 전달해야 한다고 말했습니다.
NOTE say와 tell의 사용
say 뒤에는 목적어를 붙이지 않습니다. 반면 tell 뒤에는 반드시 목적어를 붙여야 합니다.
• The manager said the code was ready for review. (O)
• The manager said me the code was ready for review. (X)
• The developer told me that the code was ready for testing. (O)
• The developer told that the code was ready for testing. (X)
